Our first European trip together!

Ciao, Italia!

I have always been dreaming of visiting Venice, Italy, but I know I have to wait for my someone special to better experience this city being dubbed as one of the most romantic places in the world.

Thankfully, the long wait is over! Last month, we flew together just in time with the celebration of our first anniversary. Given that Milan is its neighbour city, we decided to include it on our trip.

Like what we always do, we again availed a cheap deals of flights and accommodations. (List of expenses will be attached at the end of this blog). We didn't plan our itinerary but we made sure to at least know the most interesting places to visit in the city. We prefer a `chill tour´ than roaming around according to schedule.

So here's what our 6 days and 5 nights went in Venice and Milan.

Day 1: Barcelona to Venice

Headed to the airport by public bus no. 46, checked-in, departed - arrived around 16:00h.

We took the atvo bus to Mestre Station where our beautiful hostel is located. Checked-in Anda Venice Hostel , took our keys and entered our mixed sharing room with 9 beds.
Den and I love staying in hostels since is more budget friendly and you get to know people with their inspiring stories.

Later on we left our bags, and were excited to go to Venice center.

Seeing the canals, the gondolas and etc. was like living in those paintings you usually see in the museums or cafe's. Of course we couldn't stop taking pictures. We wanted this moment to be remembered digitally and mentally.

Getting lost around the narrow streets of Venice is a must since every corner is a picture perfect. The weather was really good, since spring was starting. And at the end of the day we found ourselves eating in an Italian restaurant, Ristorante Pizzeria Dolfin (highly recommend), of course.

Day 2: City tour in Venice

My sister and her family arrived in the city as well. We all did the city tour by visiting the following all on foot:

Rialto bridge is a must during the day and the night.

Day 3: Murano and Burano

Took our 1 day all pass ticket near the water bus station and hopped in to Murano.

Murano is the island where their main product is glass, while Burano is where you can find the coloured houses.

Afterwards we went back for another walk in Venice, went to T Fondaco dei Tedeschi mall
where you can enjoy a 360 degrees view of the city. You have to reserve here before you go because only 70 pax every 15 minutes is allowed. And it's for free and the view... breathtaking.

To maximise our daily pass, we roamed around Piazza San Marco at night and Rialto bridge.

Day 4: Venice to Milan

This day was a tragedy. I accidentally left my bag with our passports and money on it in a bus station.  We went back for it but the bag was already gone. Also, Den and I got left by our train going to Milan.
So, while waiting for the next train we filled a complaint in the police station so we can still go back to Barcelona.

Sharing to you my stressed look. haha

So are train itinerary was Venice - Verona - Milan in total of 4 hours of travel more or less, instead of 2 hours. It was disappointing and exhausting but I bet all of it was part of this memorable travel.

When we arrived in Milan, we went directly to see the Duomo Cathedral, sat in front of it and just appreciated its beauty. Walked along Galleria Vittorio Emmanuel II and ate Jollibee for dinner, definitely.

Day 5: City tour and Como

Went to the Philippine embassy first to ask on how Denis can travel without the passport.
Later on, we walked through the streets of Milan, again. Milan has few tourist spots so I guess if you plan on visiting maybe 1 day is enough.

In the afternoon we went to Como Lake and enjoyed a gelato.

Day 6: Bergamo to Barcelona

Our flight was delayed but happy to share that we we're able to go back to Barcelona!

So here's a tip: Always take care of your belongings specially when travelling to avoid stress and double paying train tickets.

Although every time that we think about what happened, we just laughed on how are face reactions were during that time.

P.S Focus on the good side, always.

Ciao, Italy!
